Social Issues and Action
From the 2022 MU Diocesan Reports:
These past few years we have been busy with many projects. Due to the fact many of us were unable to be "Out and About" as much as we normally are, I believe we used the time to benefit others.
Blankets for still born and premature babies were made by the score.
Some were able to be delivered to hospitals in Melbourne and Geelong when restrictions were lifted. We still have some to be delivered. If they are not needed in the nursery then other children will benefit, for example kids with cancer.
Beanies and Scarves were also knitted and delivered to the Mission to Seafarers. These are always welcome, as seafarers use them for themselves, and take them home to their families. So, our work travels the seven seas and beyond.
Members and friends are also getting involved with "Dignity Bags" which are being collected by various branches and individuals to be taken to Bunnings later in the year. This project helps many in need of personal items, and is a good way to reach out into our communities
During these past few years, we have had members, friends and family join us in making and supplying items, such as yarn for knitting, or toiletries for the bags. Thank you to everyone who has contributed in this manner.
