Prayer & Spirituality with IPC Report from the MU Diocesan Reports 2022
The heart and soul of all Mother’s Union work is prayer.
Everything we do is an act of faith and an expression of prayer.
We ask Lord that you will keep us regular and sincere in our prayers and help us to find time to be still and quiet with you.
How wonderfully well and faithful are all members of Mother Union especially those committed to IPC .
I have had the privilege and Joy in the Lord to be of some assistance in this endeavour. The mailouts to members is done at strategic times in the year, with the intention of being a help rather than an instruction. This has been aided by the leaflets prepared by our National Prayer and Spiritualty coordinator Lesley McLean, to whom I am very grateful.
We are always open to suggestions on how we can be of further help, a phone call or a short note will also keep the lines of communication alive. These are particularly helpful in these times when our coming together as Mothers’ Union has been hampered by restrictions in travel etc. The restrictions over the last couple of years has brought about an unusual type of sadness, in our disconnection, this is a challenge to rectify as times become more conducive to our meeting together, inviting speakers, having fund raisers etc.
But prayer is a constant, our connection with our Lord is not hampered by any of these restrictions that have affected us. God is always listening always ready to come to our aid. Jesus is with us , in the 24/7 prayer room seated at the right hand of our Father, Holy Spirit ever ready to lead and guide us into all truth. We have the word of God with all His promises as a foundation to our praying our love letter from our loving Father.
As we look forward to the times ahead I trust that each of us will grow stronger in our faith, more assured of who we are in Christ Jesus.
“In prayer we share our lives with God. Help us to develop a practice of prayer to fit our situation, one that is regular and intimate, one that is reassuring and searching, one that grows and changes as we grow older and our circumstances change.”
My Blessings to you all and your families as we prepare to celebrate The coming of our Lord at Christmas time.
May the next year be filled with promise and the Joy of the Lord.

MU hands across the world
Our hands are such valuable things. They can apply themselves to almost any task – needlework, shovelling coal into a steam engine, mending timid animals burnt in a bush fire. They are ultra-sensitive: the tips of fingers can tell us about a child with fever. In the thick of everything, they are very prone to damage and when that happens we are - yes - handicapped. Mothers’ Union is called to be hands-on, a finger in every pie. It is personal touch that heals and comforts, protects and teaches. Reserve and apprehension handicaps the Lord’s work. Let your tender touch bring God’s love to another’s life – wherever you are in the world.
“Give thanks to the Lord; call on his name; make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be known in all the earth. Isaiah 12: 4-5
As we pray for members in the diocese of Melbourne, we give thanks for the hands that create gifts for those experiencing trauma (trauma teddies for Kenya), sadness (cot blankets for prem and stillborn babies) or those away from home (hats, scarves and beanies for seafarers), and for the hands folded in prayer.
