Mothers' Union is dedicated to combatting gender-based violence in all it's shapes and forms. On 11th of August, we are hosting an online event titled 'Taking action against domestic abuse' with Bishop Genieve of Australia.
Bishop Genieve of Melbourne will share the outcomes so far of the world-leading work in the Diocese of Melbourne within the Church to change attitudes and behaviors towards women which cause domestic violence.
MU All Ireland will share their work within Church communities to generate awareness and signpost survivors towards support, and MU Epping Branch will share how their branch was founded to create a safe space for survivors, and how they are running a pilot project of survivor support within the community.
Bishop Rachel of Gloucester will provide an overview of the commitment of the Church of England, and there will be the opportunity to ask questions and reflect on how MU in Britain and Ireland can support clergy and their Church communities to create safe spaces for survivors and enable behavior change.
